FAQ

Common questions

The things people ask before they call. If yours is not here, the phone is the fastest way to an answer.

What can you haul?

Cars and trucks, powersports machines, tractors and mowers, golf carts, heavy equipment and attachments, pallets, heating pellets, plastic tanks and pipe. Junk car removal too. If what you have is not on that list, call and ask — most things fit.

Do you do towing or accident recovery?

No. Retro Services is scheduled hauling and transport only — no accident recovery, no winch-outs, no roadside calls. If your vehicle is in a ditch or you need an emergency tow, call a recovery service. If it needs to get from one place to another on a schedule, that is exactly the job.

How much does it cost?

Within the town of Alton it is a $150 flat rate. Outside Alton it is $125 per hour with a two-hour minimum, then rounded to the nearest half hour. That puts the floor at $250 for any job outside Alton.

What towns do you serve?

Alton is home base and the only town on the flat rate. Beyond that: New Durham, Wolfeboro, Tuftonboro, Moultonborough, Meredith, Laconia, Gilford, Gilmanton, Belmont, Northfield, Barnstead, Pittsfield, Chichester, Epsom, Farmington and Rochester. Anything within a reasonable run of Alton is worth a call.

How big a load can the truck take?

The deck is 25 feet with a 33,000-lb GVW rating, and it will carry roughly up to 14,000 lbs of payload. If your machine is near that line, call with the model number and we will check it before anyone commits.

When can you do the job?

After 4 PM Monday through Friday, and anytime on weekends. This is an owner-operated evenings-and-weekends outfit, so booking ahead is the safe bet — but if the deck is empty and you are in a bind, call anyway.

Does the vehicle have to run?

No. Non-running vehicles get winched onto the deck. It helps to know up front whether it rolls, steers and brakes, since that changes how it gets loaded — mention it when you call.

How do I book, and what should I have ready?

Call or text 603-689-4249, or email retroservicellc@hotmail.com. Have four things handy: what it is, roughly what it weighs, where it is now and where it needs to go. A photo answers most questions faster than a description.

Still not sure?

Send a photo of what needs moving. It answers most questions faster than any description.
